On October 10th, we headed back up to Chicago. After 18 months, your fingerprints "expire" with USCIS (explain that one ; ) ). So Ryan and I got to spend a quick trip up and back (no leisurely day out together) to have our fingerprints taken again before he headed back to work and I picked Ava up from school.
While in some aspects, there is a level of discouragement that so much time has passed that you are repeating steps already taken, there is also a certain level of
encouragement with it as after so much sitting and waiting, you feel like you're actively doing something that will help bring our child home to our family. Life continues to move forward but our child to be is never far from our thoughts, hearts or prayers. Can't wait until the day we see his or her face!
